1. How did you get into writing?

Writing as Rachael Lucas, I self-published my first novel (Sealed with a Kiss) and it reached no.7 in the Amazon chart and was downloaded over 150,000 times. As a result, I was discovered by my agent and then went on to write first under that name and then as Rosie Curtis.

2. What inspired you to write a Christmas novel?

I am a huge fan of Christmas – all of it. I think it’s the most romantic time of year, and movies like Bridget Jones which end with kissing in the snow are my absolute favourites, so it’s always been a dream of mine to write that sort of story.

3. Your book follows a romantic comedy with a year that changes everything, where did you get the idea for the theme?

I adore London, and as someone who came late to writing as a career I’m intrigued by people who follow their heart and take up the job they dream of, so I wanted to write a story about two people who do just that, and how the choices they make change their lives for the better.

4. What can we expect from you in 2020?

I’m working on my second book as Rosie Curtis – it’s about a British girl who finds herself in New York, dog sitting for her godmother. It’s a romantic comedy about being a fish out of water and finding someone in the strangest way possible.

5. And finally, we like to ask everyone we interview – What’s Christmas like in the Curtis household?

Ooh. It’s full of traditions! We put the tree up on the 1st of December and don’t take it down until twelfth night, which seems like the best way possible to ward off the midwinter blues. I always cook for the whole family, so there is usually fourteen of us around the table. We spend hours sitting there, chatting, laughing, and playing silly games.
