Have Yourself A Gluten and Dairy-Free Christmas With Elsie and Fleur

Finding gluten and dairy-free festive food isn’t easy but thanks to AGA cookery expert Trish Kennedy and the e-tailer Elsie & Fleur you can buy the perfect Christmas pud online.

Trish, who lives in the shadow of the windswept Quantock Hills in Somerset, explained: “My husband is gluten intolerant so I created my Christmas puddings out of necessity and I have turned them into a business along with selling my other puddings and hosting AGA cookery courses, which take place in my own kitchen.

“It’s really important for people with coeliac disease to have a luxury Christmas pudding and that is what I have created.  Coeliac is an autoimmune disease, where the body’s immune system attacks its own tissues.

“In people with coeliac disease, this immune reaction is triggered by gluten, a collective name for a type of protein found in the cereals wheat, rye and barley.”

Trish’ gluten and dairy free Christmas  pudding (prices start from £16)  includes: gluten-free flour, gluten-free baking powder, vegetable suet (vegetable oil, rice flour), gluten-free breadcrumbs, currants, sultanas, raisins, soft brown sugar, black treacle, salt, mixed spice, mixed peel, natural glacé cherries, ground almonds, carrot, apple, eggs, rind and juice of orange and lemon, and sherry.

Do you cater for someone who needs gluten or dairy free food over Christmas?  Get in touch below and share your favourite recipes with others.
