Like many the thought of permanent hair removal in the comfort of your own home is appealing so when HoMedics popped us over it’s new “pain free” Duo Quartz IPL Permanent Hair Reduction kit we had to give it a try. We were kindly sent this to review.
Arriving in a nicely presented box, Katy took it out, plugged in and waited for the green light to come on which indicated that the Dual Quartz was ready to use. Before jumping straight in, she read exactly what you have to do, firstly you need to make sure you have shaved the areas you’ll be using it on, ensure your skin is then clean and dry and decide what setting you’ll be using.
Taking a spot test on her leg this helped Katy decide what energy level she would need to get started, the device automatically sets itself on level 1 (lowest setting) and to change you just need to press the power button to increase to the level you want. Katy decided on level 4 for her legs and said: ‘I was really worried this was going to hurt especially as I set it on a higher setting however after the first time using the mild sensation disappeared! The smart skin sensor will continue to flash until you make direct contact with the skin so ensure you are doing so as I kept thinking it wasn’t working until the green light stopped flashing and then I was on a roll’
Taking it nice and slow to start Katy felt you can easily do your legs within 25 minutes as the device is nice and light in the hand and after using a couple of times on her legs she could see the difference especially as she has slightly darker hair, if you do have lighter hair try setting the level higher for better results, however she did feel the cord/cable was a little short so make sure to have an extendable extension near by.
You can use the device on every area including underarm, bikini area, arm, face, back and legs. Katy is going to give it a try on other areas but like the first time she used it she is going to keep it on the blue setting for a while.
The ultimate gift for before and after Christmas, the HoMedics Duo Quartz IPL Permanent Hair Reduction will set you back around £200 however, Katy said it’s worth every penny and doesn’t hurt as much as your own epilator!
