BBC Studios Comedy’s hit series Here We Go is officially returning for a fourth series on BBC One and iPlayer, with a brand-new festive episode landing later this year.

Created by and starring Tom Basden (After Life), the critically acclaimed sitcom reunites its all-star cast: Jim Howick (Ghosts), Katherine Parkinson (The IT Crowd), Alison Steadman (Gavin & Stacey), Freya Parks (This Town), Jude Morgan-Collie (A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder), Tori Allen-Martin (Unforgotten), Mica Ricketts (Best Interests), Ed Kear (The Batman), and Jon Furlong (The Last Kingdom).
Series 3 saw a 70% uplift in iPlayer views from Series 2, with viewership doubling among 16–34s—cementing Here We Go as one of BBC Comedy’s breakout hits.
The upcoming festive special follows Rachel’s dream of a wild New Year’s Eve bash, while Paul prefers a quiet cottage and a sauna to treat an unfortunate boil. Cue a chaotic Jessop family holiday packed with a road trip, a missing dummy, and a crate of unlicensed fireworks from a police auction.
Creator Tom Basden, says: “The Jessops are like a second family to me, so I’m utterly delighted to be bringing Here We Go back on the BBC for a catastrophic New Year’s special and I can’t wait to start work on series 4!”
Josh Cole, Chief Creative Officer, BBC Studios Comedy, says: “We’re so happy that Here We Go is returning for a fourth series and grateful for the BBC’s ongoing support.”
Jon Petrie, Director of BBC Comedy, says: “With its stellar cast and Tom Basden’s pin-sharp comic writing, Here We Go has pulled off something rare in a space that’s notoriously hard to crack. It continues to keep audiences chuckling and the BBC is delighted to be bringing back more of the glorious Jessop family chaos.”
This follows recent announcements for Two Doors Down, DIY SOS, and the chilling Christmas ghost story The Room in the Tower, all part of the BBC’s festive comedy and drama slate. With returning favourites and new seasonal specials, the lineup promises laughter, heart, and a few supernatural surprises—perfect for cosy nights in across BBC One and iPlayer.
