Getting soft waves for your hair can be pretty tricky, they either go to tight, to big or just don’t curl at all. Babyliss sent UnderTheChristmasTree it’s new Babyliss Boutique soft waves hair styler which is designed to create the perfect curl on all hair types.
Katy from the team who has long, thick brown hair tried and tested the curler and here are her thoughts and how to create soft waves.
Open your box and take out the soft cream draw string bag inside. Inside the bag you will find your BaByliss styler, a black heat protective pad and heat protective glove as well as your instruction booklet. The Soft Waves styler has a longer than average 34mm, ceramic barrel which makes styling even longer hair simple, and it didn’t take me long at all.
Plug it into the mains (it has a normal 3 pin plug) and press the on button, within 30 seconds it will have reached its 210ºC temperature and you’re ready to go, it took around a few seconds to heat and with 5 temperature setting to choose you can find one which is best suited to your hair type.
Firstly, put on your heat proof glove – as it will reach a tremendous heat and will instantly burn your skin if it touches it, I already knew this from previous burns and made sure to put the glove on.
It’s a good idea to wear a long sleeved top when you’re curling just in case you inadvertently touch your skin. Fortunately the styler has a cool tip so you can comfortably hold on to the end of the barrel as you style.
Divide your hair into sections and pin up on top of your head leaving just the section you want to curl. Take a small section of hair, wrap around the barrel and hold in place for a few seconds, (around 10) and then release. Repeat throughout your hair for beautiful soft waves and no kinks.
You can create tighter waves by wrapping small sections of your hair tightly around the barrel and leave to set for a few minutes or alternatively if you want really loose waves or just movement in your hair wrap wide sections around the barrel.
The swivel cord makes this ideal for either right or left handed users and avoids tangles with 5 available temperatures you’ll find it ideal whether you have fine or thick hair. It did take me a few shots to get used to however once I had tried a few time’s it really was very simple.
