What better way to countdown down to Christmas than with a different wine each day? We were kindly sent Laithwaites Wine Advent Calendar Mix, here’s what Mandy from our team thought.
Mandy said: “I do enjoy a glass of wine and love to try out new kinds which is why I really like it when wine advent calendars are released as I get to try lots of different wines without having to buy a big bottle. The Laithwaites Mix Wine Advent Calendar arrived in the office I knew I wanted to review it straight away. First, the design is absolutely beautiful, the advent is a 3D castle design and it has snow, Christmas tree’s, decorations and even Santa and his sleigh on the roof with the reindeer, it gave a Charles Dickens kind of feel to it and has to be the most festive advent calendar I have seen so far.

There are 24 windows to open, all of which are numbered so you know which one to open on each day. There is a small tab at the bottom and instead of opening sideways, the window opens out the way to reveal a bottle of wine. I won’t state all of the wines as I don’t want to ruin the excitement of which one you will get each day but I will mention a few.
There is a mix of red and white and each is 187ml, behind one window was Abbesse Sauvignon Blanc 2020 which to taste was fresh and I could taste some lemon but this was balanced up nicely with the fruit. Next up I tried Saracosa Toscana 2019 which was very tasty, I could taste the cherry and plum fruit throughout and even hints of chocolate. On day 24 which is of course Christmas Eve there was a half bottle of Champagne included, what better way to enjoy Christmas Eve than with a glass of Champagne in your hand and there is enough in the bottle if you want an extra cheeky glass for yourself or if you want to share it with someone else.
Overall I loved the Laithwaites Wine Mix Advent Calendar, the design was so festive and I loved the 3D look. The wines I have tried so far are so tasty and one’s that I would buy again in a bigger bottle, this makes the perfect alternative advent calendars to chocolate ones and what a perfect way to countdown to Christmas!”
