Our Favourite Wines To Serve This Christmas

Having friends or family round to your house at Christmas? Can’t decide which wines to buy to suit everyone? We were kindly sent these to review. Take a look at our favourite wines below:

Malbec UCO Valley Wine – £11.99 1.5 Litres

Aldi has brought out one mega bottle of wine which we have to say will definitely be on our table this year. This Malbec UCO Valley Wine which is a wine of Argentina is a massive 1.5 litres and is a bright and intense red colour. To smell we could instantly smell the rich berries in particular blackberry.

It is a fruity wine which has been made with fresh fruits and does leave a very refreshing taste in your mouth. We had this wine with some cheese and biscuits and have to say that we couldn’t have picked better as this wine left a very nice taste and after taste.

Morrisons Vermentino Di Sardegna – £6.00

If your looking for a few white wines to have at your table then Vermentino Di Sardegna of Italy is one of our favourites. If you having an alternative to turkey on Christmas day or having a pasta on Boxing Day – serve this wine.

We thought this wine was light and crispy and had a good sharp taste to it, we enjoyed this wine with a Carbonara pasta which really went well, the wine left a floral lemon taste to it which left a really nice, smooth after taste.

Aldi Limoux Chardonnay – £6.99

Limoux Chardonnay from The Exquisite Collection has been made by Jean-Claus Mas who is one of the most highly regarded winemakers in the Languedoc, so we know that we were in for a real treat when drinking this wine. 13.5% alcohol volume, rich and full-bodied are just some of the key features of this wine.

To taste,  Holly from our office said that this was a delicious,  rich, full-bodied wine.  It had a slight citrus taste that cuts through the intense stone fruit and buttery oak flavours.

Blason De Bourgogne Saint-Veran – £9.00

Blason De Bourgogne Saint-Veran is a white wine with 13% alcohol volume. John from our office tried this wine while having a white sauce with chicken meal and he said that this wine was so crisp and smooth that it went perfectly with the chicken.

The wine itself wasn’t too dry so went well with chicken. It had tropical flavours to it and could taste pineapple and lemon.

Penusco Rioja Reserva Red Wine – £8.99

Penusco Rioja Reserva Red Wine from Aldi’s new Exquisite Collection is a deep, rich burgundy colour when it is poured. We could instantly smell red berries and spices such as clove and a little bit of cardamom.

To taste it was full-bodied but not to heavy and left a smooth finish on the palette. This red wine would go perfectly with red meats such as beef or even with a bit of ham.

Aldi’s Exquiste Riesling White Wine – £6.99

Riesling from Aldi’s Exquiste Collection is a very dry white wine and is 11.5% volume. When pouring this white wine we could smell apple and grapefruit and when drinking this wine we could taste both of these giving it quite a sharp finish, although not overly sharp  this is a nice wine.

We felt this wine was at it’s best when it was served alongside fish with a side salad.

Blason de Bourgogne Chablis La Reserve – £12.00

Blason de Bourgogne Chablis La Reserve white wine is a smooth white wine with 12.5% volume. When we poured this wine we could smell lime and apple and to taste we could easily taste both of these, giving a crisp finish to it.

We felt this wine once chilled was best served with fish such as prawns so if your having prawns as a starter on Christmas day, this wine would go perfectly with them.
