Santa’s Top Tips For Staying Cool This Summer

Move over Dean Martin for Santa Claus is the new King of cool.  Here, Santa gives his top tips for staying cool this summer..

Drink plenty of water

Try giving the sherry a miss for now and make sure you drink plenty of water. Staying hydrated during warm weather is important as people often dehydrate due to sweating which can cause them to feel unwell. Carry a bottle of water with you at all times and you’ll feel fighting fit during this lovely weather.

Stay In The Shade

Whilst it is lovely to sunbathe for hours on end, it’s important to stay in the shade for some time to cool down to avoid sunburn and dehydration.

Wear SPF

We know how tempting it is to skip the SPF to get a lovely tan, but it’s so important to wear a good SPF to keep your skin protected in the sunshine.

Wear Santa’s Hat

Well, perhaps not his actual hat (he needs it!) but perhaps you could try wearing a sun hat to keep the sun away from your face which will in turn keep you cool.

If all else fails, eat lots of Ice cream

We don’t need an excuse to eat Ice cream, but in Summer time, it’s a great way to keep cool. Yum!

Is it too hot in the house?

If the sun is shining bright straight into your house try shutting the curtains as this will block out the sun and keep your room nice and cool.

Get a fan or an air-cooler

These are perfect if you are too hot in your house and are looking to be cooled down quickly but don’t leave the fan on if your out of the room or if you go out. – Mrs Claus uses this trick!

Wear light coloured and loose clothing

Dark coloured clothing absorbs the heat more than lighter coloured loose clothes, so try and stay away from black, dark blue etc clothing and opt for colours such as white, beige or light pastel colours – we think Santa may swap his red suit for something a bit cooler…

Keeping your animals cool and hydrated

Keeping your pets cool and hydrated in heat is very important. Make sure there is plenty of water available to them. Put out extra bowls of water in the house that won’t be knocked over. Don’t let them stay in the sun all day or stay outside all day. Make sure there is a shaded place that they can go to to cool down. You can find out more about keeping animals cool here.
