Get ready to sip, swig and guzzle down this year’s Virgin Wine’s Mixed Advent calendar which, by the way, is the merriest of them yet.
We were kindly sent this to review, all thoughts are our own.
Back again for its sixth year and might, we say even better, Virgin Wines Mixed Wine Advent Calendar has got everything you would want for that perfect tipple this festive season. Here Mandy shares her thoughts:
“Last year, I was DEVASTATED when John nabbed the Virgin Wines mixed wine advent to test last year, so before anyone else got their hands on this year I grabbed it first – well, slid away as it’s pretty heavy.
Now, like most advent reviews we take part in I’m NOT going to spoil everything by telling you exactly what hides behind each door – where’s the fun in that?! however I will go into more details on what to expect and how some of the wines taste – it’s just got to be done – work purposes of course.
Like previous Virgin Wine advent calendars, this year’s festive design is fun, festive and bold, with a Santa Claus red all over colour and adorned with seasonal characters including an angel cork, it does make you feel Christmas is just right around the corner.
Each cardboard window is adorned with big bold white numbers, making it super easy to find each day – because who wants to wait for a glass of wine?…
Choosing to open door number 5 because it had the fun, Rudolph, on it, (a little stiff, but who cares, rip it open!) nestle safely inside was a 187ml of 13.5% red the Intrepid bear red wine, which usually costs £11.99 a bottle! it tasted lovely, very rich and full-bodied.
The rest of the advent did not disappoint, in fact, I was super impressed just how many varieties of vino you can try out, perfect if you’re not sure which ones you may like or not and waste money buying the full bottle.
Other wines included the Pino Grigio The Black Pig and SPOILER ALERT:
LOOK AWAY IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW HAT YOU GET ON CHRISTMAS EVE…
A full-size bottle of PRODEZZA prosecco, I’m seriously looking forward to pouring at least three glasses of this on Christmas morning.
In terms of selection, design and price (this will cost £89.99) I’m very impressed, especially as it includes the full-size bottle of prosecco and so many different brands of wine. Would I buy it again? – heck yes!”
