BBC announces Doctor Who festive edition named Revolution Of The Daleks

BBC have announced a Christmas special of Doctor Who and has been named Revolution Of The Daleks, so what can we expect for the festive edition?

Doctor Who star Mandip Gill (Hollyoaks) confirmed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that the yearly special has not been postponed due to the coronavirus, so any doubts we had of this not airing have now been squashed, hallelujah!

She told Entertainment Weekly, “I can confirm that. There is a festive episode. We happened to be quite lucky and fit it in, so that will be exciting.”

Doctor Who episodes invariably air around Christmas and New Year, and this time around fans can look forward to watching Revolution Of The Daleks, which is set to air sometime around Christmas or the New Year.

Get ready for thrills, spills, loads of laughs, and, of course, it wouldn’t be a Doctor Who special without Daleks and Exterminations!

Showrunner Chris Chibnall says: “We can’t leave the Doctor there! On that cliffhanger! Well, we did. But rest assured, the Doctor and her friends will be back for a one-off extended special around Christmas and New Year. (I don’t know when they’re going to put it on yet, otherwise we’d tell you!). There will be Daleks. There will be exterminations. Thrills, laughter, tears. You know. The usual. See you at the end of the year.”

Director BBC Content Charlotte Moore added: “I can’t wait for the Doctor to go into battle with the ultimate enemy in this year’s Daleks festive special.”

Starring in this upcoming Doctor Who festive episode is Jodie Whittaker, who plays The Doctor, Bradley Walsh as Graham, Tosin Cole as Ryan, and Mandip Gill as Yaz. There was no Doctor Who aired last Christmas. BBC has also announced a Christmas episode of Call The Midwife will also air over the festive period.

Will you be counting down to this Doctor Who festive episode?
