Much to everybody’s delight, for the first time in over 100 years the iconic Blackpool Illuminations will stay switched on over Christmas and will continue to stay lit until January, 2021.

Visit Blackpool has confirmed that in an aim to boost tourism, this year’s dazzling light show event will launch on September 4th and run until January 3rd, 2021.

Unfortunately, due to social distancing restrictions in place during the coronavirus  pandemic, the event won’t go ahead in its usual format.

However, for the first time in more than 70 years, it will take place away from the public and will be replaced by a televised closed event filmed inside the Tower Ballroom.

In an effort to boost local tourism the lights will thankfully be kept on for an extra two months to help boost tourism trade.

This fantastic, free access, event will be hosted by Diversity’s Ashley and Jordan Banjo and will be streamed in association with MTV.

Look out for more details which will be announced soon.
