Let us introduce you to Aldi’s latest creation which we feel looks and sounds suspiciously like a Christmas Panetonne…
Now we’re all for anything that’s chocolate orange BUT when Aldi showcased its brand new Easter creation we couldn’t help but feel it was impersonating one of our favourite festive treats.
The Panettone! at first glance (turn away now if you’re hungry!) this beauty looks simply divine but it does have a few similarities to the Christmas sweet bread.
Firstly the size, weighing in at a huge 550g which is just slightly smaller than the brand Specially Selected Chocolate Panettone from last year which came in at a whopping 750g.

Secondly, the look, although this does look like a hot cross bun, we’ve got to say it also has the same glistening shine of panettone and even the same sort of height too.
And finally, the big one, the flavour…we ALL know that chocolate orange is more of a Christmassy sort of delight and supersized treat is packed with chocolate chips and candied orange peel giving hints of festive feels if we say so ourselves.
With Easter just around the corner, the Specially Selected Giant Chocolate Orange Hot Cross Bun (£3.99, 550g) does look and sound like the ultimate sharing treat.
Well since there’s no Panettone on the shelves looks like we’ll be stocking up on half a dozen of these.
