As series two filming begins, the BBC has announced that a Christmas special will also air for hit comedy series Amandaland with a surprise Ab Fab reunion!
It’s now that time of the year when you must start clearing your planners and get ready to add a host of new Christmas specials, including – Amandaland!
Confirmed by the BBC, the special will see returning cast Lucy Punch, Joanna Lumley and Philippa Dunne all back on our screens, BUT joining them is comedy legend Jennifer Saunders!
Jennifer Saunders is stepping into the role of Aunt Joan — Felicity’s (the legendary Joanna Lumley) delightfully chaotic sister. Aunt Joan is all rolling countryside, tweed, and unstoppable upper-crust energy — basically the polar opposite of Felicity. And here’s the best part: this special episode marks the first time Jennifer and Joanna will share a scripted screen since their iconic Absolutely Fabulous days.
Lucy Punch, who plays Amanda, says: “I’m beyond excited to get started on Amandaland series two with our brilliantly talented, lovely cast. The Christmas special is going to be an absolute cracker – it’s like totes fire, with all the festive feels, for reals. Slay bells!”
Jennifer Saunders, who plays Joan, says: “I am delighted to be joining the fabulous Amandaland gang for a Christmas special. Playing Joanna’s on-screen sister is guaranteed to be a laugh, who doesn’t love a family reunion SoHa style!”
No confirmed broadcasting dates and times have been confirmed; however, once we have these, we will ensure to put details here.
Amandaland isn’t the only Christmas special the BBC has lined up. Alongside it, The Celebrity Apprentice is getting a festive twist, plus a heart-warming DIY SOS Christmas episode and a chilling Christmas Ghost Story: The Room. And that’s just a taste of what’s coming to your TV this holiday season!
