Will Victoria replace Downton Abbey?

The final season of eight episodes of Downton Abbey which  culminates in the Christmas Special to be shown on 25th December, 2015 will be a huge loss to our festive TV viewing.

However, as one door closes another opens and ITV have announced their plans to replace Downton with an eight-part series titled “Victoria.”

The new series will focus on Queen Victoria’s early reign of the United Kingdom, from the “rebellious teenager” who became queen at 18, to the monarch whose reign was “beset by scandal and sleaze”as well as some of the scandals and troubles that came her way soon after her rise to power.

It’s hoped that, just like ‘Downton Abbey’, this new series will catch the attention of fans of the British period drama.
