Aldi sold nearly 100 MILLION Brussels Sprouts last Christmas

No matter how many of us dislike and dread the Brussels sprouts, Aldi sold nearly a whopping 100 million of the green delights last Christmas, with the UK retailer having its most successful festive period to date.

And you thought nobody liked them?!

The traditional groans of diners who dislike seeing sprouts on their plates better get used to them as Aldi announces it sold nearly 100 million of the humble sprouts in 2018.

The UK retailer, which had record sales of almost 1bn for the month of December also announced it sold more than 17m bottles of wine, Champagne and Prosecco, with almost 50 million mince pies sold during the festive month.

Giles Hurley, CEO of Aldi UK, said: “Our Christmas range was the largest and most innovative yet and caught the imagination of our customers, who visited our stores in record numbers. “Although we saw strong growth across all key categories, the standout performance was in our Specially Selected brand where shoppers treated themselves to premium products for a fraction of the price they would have paid elsewhere for similar quality products.”
