Winning carol will be announced and performed live on 20th December.

Listeners and up-and-coming composer’s across the UK get your get your musical mitts are the ready as BBC Radio 3 opens its 2019 Christmas Carol competition.
The 2019 challenge will see six brand new carols for SATB Choir set to the words of specially-commissioned poem Go To The Child by poet Imtiaz Dharker.
Dharker said: “It is always exciting and a little frightening to be asked to do something you never imagined you would do. I really hadn’t thought about writing a Christmas Carol till BBC Radio 3 threw me this challenge”
Judged by an expert panel chaired by Bob Chilcott, Principal Guest Conductor of the BBC Singers, the six shortlisted carols will be preformed live on BBC Radio 3’s breakfast show in the lead up to Christmas.
Listeners will be able to vote for their favourite with the winning carol being announced and preformed live on BBC Radio 3 Breakfast on Friday 20th December and then played throughout Christmas Day on Radio 3.
