Christmas Gift Review 2019: Kasa Spot KC100

Tis the season to be Jolly, right? well sadly, tis also the season for house break-ins which is why home security is so important.  The Kasa Spot has a two-way talk, 130 degree angle and more.

We were very gratefully gifted the Kasa Spot KC100 to try out and we wanted to share our thoughts on it.

First off, a bit about the details of the Kasa Spot KC100. The security camera is for indoor usage only, however does have night vision technology. Other features include Two way Talk, 1080 HD playback, 130 degree wide angle video, live view and live updates when Kasa detects motion or audio.

We asked Holly to test this out and here she shares her thoughts:

“I take security very seriously and here at UTCT HQ we have the building covered from all angles, with the exception of the demo room and the staff room. Would I finally be able to catch whoever was stealing all the mince pies and who it is that leaves teabags on the side of the sink instead of washing it?

First off, the Kasa Spot KC100 is tiny. It literally fits in the palm of your hand which is handy as it blends in with any kind of home decor you may have. Setting it up is simple. I downloaded the Kasa app which is available on both Google Play and the Apple App Store, then simply connected the device to a power supply using the provided 10ft USB cable. I then created a free account and added my device by using the step by step instructions on screen.

It took a good few minutes for the Kasa to connect to the wifi and set itself up, but once done, I was able to start viewing live footage on my smartphone. On top of that, I was sent screenshots and alerts of any ‘new’ activity which I could turn off whenever I felt like it. I could also record the screen and listen for any audio. I can even press a button and speak to whoever is in the room. Handy for telling Santa not to drink too much of his dram before getting back in his sleigh!

The picture and audio are crystal clear making it easy to see and hear everything that is going on. You can connect this using anything that can download the app – Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Smartphones, Laptops, Tablets and more.

You can even connect other Kasa devices within the app and monitor everything from one place which is handy. As of yet, I haven’t caught the mince pie thief, but my money’s on John…All in all an excellent device.”

The Kasa Spot KC100 is available from Amazon UK for £34.
