Christmas Soap Spoilers 2017: Carla Connor To Return To Coronation Street

Carla Connor is set for a huge return to the cobbles at Christmas as Coronation Street’s producer Kate Oates confirms actress Alison King has signed on the dotted lines.

Last seen on our screens in May 2016 after her disastrous wedding to Nick Tilsley, Carla’s role will be unlike any she has previously played, as both Connor women – Carla and Michelle are set to be on opposing sides and in conflict.

Talking to the Radio Times, the show boss revealed: “Ever since I got here, it’s been rumoured that Carla’s coming back. But it was never true. Even the latest indications of it. Ali has only just signed her contract and she’ll be back around Christmas.

“It’s time to break new ground with Carla. I didn’t want to put her on that familiar cycle of self-destruction, recovery, followed by more self-destruction.

“What we’ll have instead are these two strong Connor women – Carla and Michelle – on opposing sides and in conflict for a change. It’ll be a refreshing dynamic for us to see.”

Already fans of the ITV soap have expressed their delight over on social media for the return of Carla however questions such as how and what will be the Christmas storyline still remain a mystery.
