Wave goodbye to traditional turkey and say season greetings to insect snacks, meat-free centrepieces and alcohol-infused desserts as online retailer, Ocado, reveals its top Christmas food trends for 2017.
Are you ready to bring a bit of Ant and Dec’s – I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here to your festive party? as this Christmas, Ocado will introduce Jimini’s – Garlic & Herb Meal Worms, Paprika Grasshoppers, and Sweet Onion Crickets to your table! Firm favourites such as Smoked salmon have also been spruced up as more unusual options come to the table including cuts infused with gin and tonic! Newer world cuisines have also played a part in the online supermarket Xmas line-up as it launches Christmas spiced Chocolate Houmous.
Move aside your traditional turkey centrepiece and make room for Tofurkey Turkey Roll, Vegetarian Nut Roast and even Christmas Butternut Squash Stuffed with Luxurious Vegan Mince as Ocado predicts more and more of us will be going meat-free on the big day.
Alcohol-infused desserts and even cheeses are a clear trend this Christmas and Ocado think so too! with a 71 per cent increase in sales for infused food products it’s no wonder the online supermarket are releasing Gin & Tonic Meringue Bites and Snowdonia Mature Cheddar laced with Whisky.
