The Downton Abbey movie is to be released this Christmas as filming is set to begin this Summer. Here are all the details we know so far…

Have you been wondering just exactly what the Earl of Grantham has been doing for the past few years or if Mr Carson and Mrs Hughes are still together? well, you won’t have to wait long as we can confirm that the cast and crew have begun working on the movie at the iconic Highclere Castle now Covid rules allow.
Due to commence filming in the Summer, the ITV historical drama series, Downton Abbey, is aiming for a Christmas release.
The film will see the return of the original cast including Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, and Jim Carter, plus in addition to the original cast, Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye, and Dominic West will join the movie.
So what can we expect from Downton Abbey 2? well, the initial film followed a Royal Visit to the Crawley family and Downton staff from the King and Queen of England and ended with a ball fitting for the Royal Family, so could we start with scenes from the ball or have fans predicted correctly and that the film will open with Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham (Dame Maggie Smith) funeral, please don’t let it be that!
This sure is one heck of a festive treat to look forward too.
