From affairs being uncovered to a shock mass shooting, here’s who won the big soaps showdown ratings on Christmas Day.
You’ve stuffed yourself fuller than you thought was even possible and then it was time to put your feet up and get ready for the massive soap storylines to be aired, however who came out top of the ratings?
BBC One’s EastEnders swept the soap board with a whopping 5.5 million tuning into see Phil Mitchell & son Ben seek revenge on Sharon Mitchell as he finds all about her secret affair and baby with Keanu Taylor.
As expected a redder than Rudolph faced Phil was seen raging at his other half as he finally uncovers the truth about not being the father of Sharon’s baby, after she had a secret affair with Keanu, who is the Dad. Keanu who is also father to baby Peggy and engaged to Phil’s daughter Louise, is then left to the hands of Martin.
ITV’s Coronation Street beat Emmerdale with 4.5 million viewers, which saw Robert Preston, Gary Windass and Shona Ramsey being gunned down as deranged Derek Milligan takes to the cobbles to seek revenge on Gary.
Emmerdale (including +1) had an audience of 4.1 million watching as Jacob’s festivities were interrupted when he looks down to see a crying baby on his doorstep.
What should we expect to see in 2020? Storylines from last years Christmas will carry forward. EastEnders will see Linda’s drinking still spiralling out of control and Phil and Karen being questioned about the dissapearance of Keanu. In Corrie there will be more trouble for the Platts and Carla’s secret past will come back to haunt her. For Emmerdale fans get ready to revisit Jai Sharma’s drugs storyline as pressure mounts for him.
