This Sunday, 5th July 2020, will see the UK take part in a nationwide clap in honour of the NHS’ birthday, in what is hoped will become an annual tradition.
The ‘Clap for Carers’ campaign saw members of the public come out of their homes at 5pm in order to clap for both members of the NHS staff and all key workers who continued to work throughout the Covid outbreak.
As a sign of respect for the NHS, transmissions will stop for a minute and in order to mark the occasion, many public buildings, including the Royal Albert Hall and the Shard will be lit up in blue.
The evening before the nationwide clap for the NHS, people will be asked to place a light in the windows in remembrance of all those who have died during the pandemic.
We wanted to wish the NHS a very happy birthday and to thank everyone for all of their hard work!
