Harrogate Christmas Market Has Been CANCELLED!

That’s right festive friends, the popular Harrogate Christmas market has been cancelled and here are the reasons why.

Christmas Markets

The organisers of the Harrogate Christmas Market, Brian & Beryl Dunsby and Chairman Steve Scarre received an email from Harrogate Borough Council on Thursday 29th July stating that, “after careful consideration, they are unable to agree the use of Montpellier Hill Stray site for the Christmas Market and as such cannot grant a licence.” It added that they “hope you are able to identify a suitable alternative location to allow the event to take place elsewhere.”

The Council also released a statement at the same time on Facebook and Twitter stating that “the Event Plan did not take into account the risk of overcrowding and necessary evacuation procedures, counter terrorism measures and the ongoing risk of COVID-19.”

Harrogate Christmas Market has also proved popular with locals and tourists as they browse some unique and exciting Christmas gifts for their loved ones. There will be other Christmas Markets taking place this year however some others have cancelled also.
