His Dark Materials to return this Winter

Following the roaring success of season one of ‘His Dark Materials’ comes the highly anticipated second season which has started filming now and will be aired later in the year. Hurrah! for more Winter TV!

In case you need a recap (no spoilers!), ‘His Dark Materials’ follows Lord Asrial (James McAvoy) as he opens a bridge to a new world. Snippets of season two show Andrew Scott (John Parry), Jade Anouka (Ruta Skadi), Terence Stamp (Giacomo Paradisi) and Simone Kirby (Dr. Mary Malone) as well as the very first glimpse at the mysterious city of Cittàgazze.

Throughout the upcoming series, Lyra (Dafne Keen) is distraught following the death of her best friend which leads her to follow Lord Asriel into the unknown, which leads her to the abandoned city of Cittàgazze where she meets Will (Amir Wilson) who is running from a troubled past but together find their path is thwarted as a war brews around them. Meanwhile, back in the ‘normal’ world, Mrs Coulter (Ruth Wilson) is searching for Lyra and will stop at nothing to bring her home.

As we mentioned, filming has commenced and the show is set to air later this year. We’re beyond excited for winter TV viewing and to see what ‘His Dark Materials’ has in store for us.
