Did you know the first ever NOW That’s What I Call Music – The Christmas album was released in 1985 and reached number 1 in the album charts for 2 weeks!  We look back to see what was on the playlist and if you are still listening to the same songs.


Now That’s What I Call Music or Now 1 (as it was also known) was released in the United Kingdom in 1983 and featured classic hits including Madness and hil Collins.

Fast forwad two years to 1985 when the first Now That’s What I Call Music Christmas Album was launched! This 18-track UK LP, which stayed top of the album charts for 2 weeks, was a compilation album featuring festive classics by well-known stars including Elton John, Queen, Paul McCartney, Slade, Roy Wood and many more.

From what information we can find there appears to have been a Christmas compilation album released every year and the 2016 album ‘NOW Merry Christmas’ is packed with all our Christmas favourites including the iconic ‘White Christmas’, have a ‘Holly Jolly Christmas’ and loads more of your festive singalong favourites.
