John Lewis and the help of five-under 12’s have spent months sourcing and reviewing hundreds of toys to help select and approve the final top ten toys they think will fly off the shelves this Christmas 2021.
The lineup features a host of classic favourites including retro Scaletrix sets starring Batman vs Superman, as well as new toys such as the Waitrose marker. The tiny testers also gave five toys an extra special 10 out of 10 which included the Lego Elf Clubhouse, Scaletrix and Space Puzzle.
Toy testers, Daisy and Charlie. Daisy, age nine, said, ‘The Scalextric was my favourite game. I think it would be fun to play with my mum and dad and try to beat them! It’s definitely going on my Christmas list this year.’

Like last year, traditional toys and games which the whole family an get inolved in seem to be the biggest hits for Christmas.
Rachael Larkman, Toy Buyer says, ‘This year we’ve seen a huge surge in the popularity of traditional toys and games that can be enjoyed by the whole family for example sales of construction toys and puzzles such as Lego have risen 50 per cent in the last 12 months, and we predict this trend will continue for Christmas 2021. The selection of top toys chosen by our panel of toy testers, includes toys suitable for all ages. From ‘my first’ toys to the exclusive Scalextric which we are predicting to be the toy of the season, there’s a great variety that will guarantee excitement on Christmas day.’
If you were to purchase all of the must-have toys predicted by John Lewis and the tiny testers this would cost £461.93 which is down from last year which would have cost an eye watering £601.09.
