Kevin the Carrot or should we say MalibuKev is back and ready to step into Christmas as supermarket Aldi brings back everyone’s favourite cuddly root veg to take part in the Junemas celebrations.
The last time we saw Kevin he was battling for his life after he was ejected from a fighter jet by a gobbling turkey, however after a little help from his idol (Santa of course!) we see Kevin back home in time for Christmas, so where and what is Kevin doing right now?…
Well, we’ve now gotten to the root of the case and it looks as though Kevin is ready to bring back the yule-tide fun this Summer as he joins the rest of the nation to celebrate Junemas Day on the 25th of June. MalibuKev (his new Summer title) dons his Santa hat whilst wearing sunglasses and a very bright Hawaiian shirt, dressed to impress and ready for a not-so-seasonal Summer BBQ.
And if it wasn’t enough that Kev is back, but coming to town this week, you can bid for the chance to buy a limited-edition Malibu Kevin plush toy, if you can get your hands on one.
Available from 9am on Friday 25th June, Aldi will auction 300 of the cuddly root vegetables on eBay with all proceeds going to the supermarkets charity partner Teenage Cancer Trust. Fans will have the chance to bid over five days for the special summer themed Kevin.
Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, comments: “Since we announced our Junemas range, there has been huge excitement from our customers, and we’ve had many asking if Kevin the Carrot is due to make an appearance. It really wouldn’t be a festive celebration without him, so we’re delighted to confirm that he will indeed be returning this week, with proceeds of all sales going to Teenage Cancer Trust.
“However you plan to celebrate – be it a garden party or even taking inspiration from our friends ‘Down Under’ with a barbeque – we wish you a very Merry Junemas.”
So, like MalibuKev, get your Santa hat on, put the tree up and join us as we are ‘simply having a wonderful Junemas time’.
