Make Christmas Preperation Easier With These Gadgets

Christmas is always a hectic time of the year and we’re always looking for gadgets that help speed up the process when making Christmas dinner. Take a look at our top kitchen gadgets to make preparing your festive meal that little bit easier. We were kindly sent these to review.

OXO GoodGrips Mandoline Slicer 2.0

First up we take a look at the OXO Goodgrips Chef’s Mandoline Slicer 2.0 which not only speeds up the process of chopping up your fruit and veg but makes them look like a chef has prepared them. We have tried and tested this and we can say that it did cut down the preparation time as we placed our veg into the food holder which had a very good grip.

We placed our vegetable into the food holder and then moved it up and down the Mandoline slider until the vegetable was cut, we decided to try it with an onion first and we have to say the results were amazing. The onion slid to perfection, all the slices were the same size and thickness and it took less than a minute to do. The handle on the OXO Goodgrips Slicer 2.0 was really sturdy, had a good grip and did not slide anywhere so there was no worrying it was going to slip.

We then switched the setting to the Julienne which we then used for carrots, again they were done in a fraction of the time that it would take if we were doing this with a peeler and knife. All of the vegetables looked and tasted amazing. Slice either wavy, julienne, straight, intervals or even do french fries with blades so you can prep like a pro.

Microplane Grater Master Series Ribbon Grater

Microplane Grater Master Series Zester and Ribbon Grater are handy gadgets in the kitchen, especially if your baking, as using the Ribbons Grater we could easily grate butter into one of our cakes and add in chocolate which again was finely grated.

Using the Ribbon Grater was great as its handle was made from solid wood and gave a good non slip grip which is exactly what we wanted when baking and it had a non-slip rubber foot so there was no need to worry that it would slip on the kitchen units. The results were great as it finely grated butter, chocolate, vegetables and much more.

Microplanes Master Series Zester

Up next is the Microplanes Master Series Zester which is amazing! Again it also has a solid wood handle which is great to give a good grip and also has the rubber non-slip foot at the bottom of the zester so there was no worrying about this slipping.

We used the Master Series Zester to add some lemon zest, finely grate a bit of ginger and even grated up some garlic. The zester grated these with ease and it was much quicker than standing having crush garlic or some how get the zest of a lemon!
