It’s the biggest Christmas question of all time – What is the UK’s Best Christmas Song? well, science has finally got to the bottom of this and you’ll be surprised at the answer.
A good uplifting Christmas song will get even the grinchest of them rocking around the Christmas tree and according to a new study by Wren Kitchens, Wizzard’s festive pop song – I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday is the best festive song of all time to do just that.
How on earth did they manage to finally track the answer to one of the biggest Christmas questions of all time? Well, participants were asked to track their average heart rate using heart rate monitoring equipment. Respondents were then played Christmas songs and their heart rate was taken again as a comparison, and you’ll be shocked at the results.
Topping number 1 was, of course, I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday by Wizzard which increased heart rates by more than 20 beats per minute when listened to, whilst Shakin’ Stevens Merry Christmas Everyone came in at number 11 BPM (beats per minute) however hitting the lowest marks When A Child Is Born by Johnny Mathis only increased heart rates by just 5.3 beats per minute when listened to, such a classic!
The top 20 Christmas songs based on heart rates can be seen in the table below:
Has science finally answered the question?…we might have to ask Santa his opinion.
