At Christmas time, we all enjoy a tipple or two especially with our Christmas dinner, so we’ve reviewed some of the best red, white and rose wines for Christmas which we were kindly sent.
The Mineral Blocks Sauvignon Blanc
Crisp, refreshing and full of flavour, The Mineral Blocks Sauvingnon Blanc would go perfect with a pasta dish such as carbonara.
John said: “This Sauvingnon Blanc was really refreshing to drink, it was quite citrus but I do like that in a wine however there was notes of tropical which ensured the wine was not too bitter.

Asda Extra Special Soave Classico
Smooth and fresh, this wine would go great with seafood or paella.
Holly said: “I liked this Soave it was easy to drink, not too dry and had a pleasant fruit flavour to it. There was also a bit of nuttiness and was fresh and smooth, it would go great with a prawn starter at Christmas.”

The Ned Sauvignon Blanc
Zesty and fruity with a fresh crisp taste, this wine would be great with turkey or a nut roast.
Mandy said: “I really enjoyed this white wine, it was packed full of flavours such as lime and I could even taste hints of gooseberry. I had this on it’s own but I can see how this can be enjoyed one it’s own or with practically any dish.”

M&S El Duque De Miralta Rioja
Smooth and velvety, this red wine is packed full of flavours.
Katy said: “The minute I poured a glass of this I knew I was going to enjoy it. To taste I could get hints of dark cherry and hints of licorice. The wine was smooth to drink and it had hints of vanilla and spices througout, just lovely.”

Sainsburys Taste The Difference Chablis
Fresh and fruity, this Chablis is ideal with fish or cheese.
Mandy said: “I found this wine refreshing and I could really taste the citrus in the wine although this was not over-powering. The Chablis was quite dry and I think it would be great with cheese and biscuits or a fresh fruit salad.”

Tesco Finest Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc
Tesco Finest Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc has flavours of gooseberry and passion fruit.
Mandy said: “I did enjoy the Sauvignon Blanc, I could taste the gooseberry and passion fruit throughout. I had this with a vegetarian nut roast and the two really did work well together. It wasn’t too bitter but it was fresh and fruity.”

Tesco Finest Tingleup Riesling
Crisp, refreshing and easy to drink, this Riesling would go great as an after dinner drink.
Holly said: “Tesco Finest Tingleup Riesling was really nice, I could taste lime and hints of pepper throughout although this was balanced out with melon and some apricot fruit. Very tasty.”

I Heart Wines Sauvignon Blanc
Crisp and zesty, this Sauvignon Blanc would be the perfect match with paella or with turkey.
Mandy said: “I Heart Wines Sauvignon Blanc was zesty, crisp and refreshing. I could taste the citrus and there were hints of passion fruit so that this was not too sour. I found it very enjoyable to drink.

Serge de Bucy Produced Grand Vin de Bourgogne Chablis AOC
Fresh and clean, this white wine has a chalky texture and long finish.
John said: “I do enjoy a good Chablis and this one didn’t disappoint. The wine had citrus notes including lemon but there was also hints of stone fruit such as peach which worked well with the citrus.”

Sainburys Taste The Difference Rosé Pinot Grigio
Pinot Grigio Rose has floral and peach notes.
Elaine said: “I had this with some pasta and the wine went well. To taste I had hints of peach which I really liked as this added a sweetness to the Rose. I thought this would also be good with a prawn or egg mayonnaise starter at Christmas.”

Masi Rosa dei Masi
Masi Rosa dei Masi is fresh and fruit made from Refosco grapes.
Holly said: “I love Rose wine, it’s my favourite kind to drink. This one is particular was not overly sweet like some rose wine can be and was really smooth to drink. I could taste notes of strawberry and raspberries and I had this with fish and it went perfectly.”

Mirabeau Etoile Provence Rosé
This elegant rose wine has beautiful notes of pear and apricot.
John said: “This rose wine is simply stunning, light and refreshing, this by far is one of my favourite Rose. It was silky and packed full of fruity flavours which all worked so well together. I had Mirabeau Etoile Provence Rosé with tagliatelle mixed with a white sauce and it was just the perfect pairing.”

Chateau Leoube Love Rosé 2018
This pale rose win is packed full of flavours such as apple, orange and fruity.
Holly said: “I enjoyed this Rose, it was full of flavour and quite dry. There was a refreshing feel and I could taste hints of herbs, orange and apple. It was not overly sweet but there was also hints of peach to give it a little bit of sweetness.”

Mascaronne Quat’Saisons, Côtes
Mascaronne Quat’Saisons, Côtes has notes of peach, pear and grapefruit while delivering a crisp, refreshing taste.
Elaine said: “I had this wine with fish and I have to say the two went perfectly together. The wine had a fruity taste to it and I could note peach and pear with hints of citrus giving the perfect balance. The rose was very refreshing and had a dry finish, just lovely.”

Bolney Estate Rosé
With pear, raspberry and vanilla, this Rose wine is a wonderfully fragrant wine.
Holly said: “I loved Bolney Rose, it was packed full of flavours. I could taste strawberry, pear, peach, raspberry and hints of vanilla but this Rose was not overly sweet and really nice to drink. I would serve this with a light supper or with a melon starter at Christmas time.”

Exquisite Sancerre Rosé
A deep rose in colour, this fragrant wine is rich and fruity.
Elaine said: “This premium Rose wine was beautiful to drink. I could taste red fruits including strawberry with hints of orange. The Rose had a light and refreshing taste and went perfect with a greek salad.”

ASDA Extra Special Barolo
This award winning wine is full bodied with herbal notes and ripe cherry flavours.
Mandy said: “I really enjoyed this red wine, it was full bodied, quite heavy and was packed full of flavours. I could taste the herbal notes and definitely the cherry which worked well together. I think this would go great with casserole or with a boxing day dinner with the left overs from the day before.”

I Heart Wine Shiraz
This Shiraz would be ideal with a pasta dish or with a tasty mince pie.
Elaine said:” A Shiraz that I would have again and again. The I Heart Wine is full of flavour and I could taste the black fruit flavours through the whole bottle. The wine was smooth to drink and left a nice after taste.”

Tesco Finest Montagne Saint-Emilion
Full bodied with cedar wood and savoury spice flavours.
Elaine said: “Tesco Finest Lussac St Emillion was very enjoyable and felt it could have went with any dish. The wine was red rounded and was fully of taste flavours such as cherry, spices, blackcurrants and was quite heavy, it would be ideal with dishes such as pork.”

Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon
Matured for 10 months in French barrels, this Cabernet Sauvignon has a beautiful smokiness.
Katy said: “I do enjoy a deep, rich Cabernet Sauvignon and this one didn’t disappoint. The minute I opened up the bottle and tasted some of this wine I could taste berry’s, hints of fig and has smooth finish. I had this with cheese and biscuits and its went so good with these.”

Malb-Echo Falls Malbec
Smooth and fruit, this Malbec would work well with beef or gammon.
Katy said: “I enjoyed the Malb-Echo Falls Malbec, it was easy to drink and was quite fruity. I could taste hints of spice throughout and it had a oaky finish to it.”

ASDA Extra Special Yarra Valley Pinot Noir
Full of juicy raspberry and fruit flavours.
Katy said: “I do quite enjoy a Piont Noir but sometimes there not heavy enough for me. However this one was perfect, it was quite heavy, packed full of flavours such as raspberry, strawberry and even cherry, lovely wine!”

Sainsburys Taste The Difference Chartreuse de Bonpas
Bold and powerful this red wine has been blended with cherry and hints of spice.
John said: “This red wine was stunning, it was a deep colour to pour and as I was pouring I could smell the cherries. To taste there were hints of spices and alongside the cherry this gave a smooth, well-balanced wine, lovely.”

Diemersdal Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot
This blend of Carbernet Sauvignon and Merlot has notes of cassis and plums and would be perfect with cheese and biscuits.
Katy said: “I loved the blend of the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot together, it gave a full bodied, well balanced taste. I could taste berry and cherry and found this wine really smooth to drink. I can’t wait to have this with some cheese and biscuits.”

M&S Red Mulled Wine
Rich and fruit with spices, this mulled wine will warm you up on a cold winter’s night.
Mandy said: “I love mulled wine, there is nothing better than coming in from a cold day to a hot cup of mulled wine. This M&S Mulled Wine was really delicious, it was rich, fruit and full of spices. None of these were over-powering and the mulled wine was not bitter at all, very tasty.”
