The reindeer, named ‘Dancer’, ‘vixen’, ‘dasher’, ‘dancer’, ‘comit’,  ‘cupid’, ‘donner’ and ‘blitzen’, eagle eyed Christmas fans will note that Rudolf is missing – not to worry, he’s just taking extra time to recover following his heavy workload on Christmas Eve.

According to staff at the zoo, the herd were born to three different mothers and the same Father, who is called ‘Ghost’.

Speaking of the arrival, the assistant head keeper at Blackpool Zoo, Johnpaul Houston, said: “We are enjoying a wonderful birthing season here at Blackpool Zoo this year with new babies arriving every day. There has been a lot of excitement at the reindeer house after we welcomed eight healthy calves over the last few weeks. They are all absolutely gorgeous and are already running round enjoying this glorious weather.”
