Should You Go Hillwalking In Snowy Conditions?

We all know how beautiful the British countryside is, particularly over winter time when snow adorns the hills turning them into a winter wonderland.

Exciting and beautiful, it’s understandable why winter is many climbers favourite time to head for the hills, but in the grip of winter, conditions can quickly change and even the most experienced climber can land in trouble.

Search and rescue teams across the UK often have to put their lives at risk when such conditions arise.mountain rescue

Following the recent sad events where hill walkers lost their lives we ask:  What are your thoughts on hill walking in snowy conditions?

Do you think people should leave their hobby for a more weather appropriate time, or would you encourage hill walkers to experience the wintery conditions and see Britain’s countryside from  beautiful heights?
