Christmas time is a warm time full of good will to fellow man, that is until the boxing gloves come out for the Christmas TV Battle. With TV giants such as Downton Abbey and Sherlock Holmes releasing Christmas specials, the battle was set to be a close one.
Downton Abbey as we all know has officially come to an end (sob!) however, to go out with a bang, the show returned with a Christmas special. The final ever show was highly anticipated with more than 6.9 million viewers tuning in, but was it enough to beat the ever popular Sherlock Holmes?
Sherlock returned at New year to a whopping 8.4 million viewers. The show received a mixed bag of reviews on social media, but nonetheless definitely scoops the prize for most watched Christmas special of 2015.
Other shows with festive offerings include Mrs Browns Boys, Eastenders and Coronation Street.
It’s a wonder we ever moved away from the television over Christmas with such a lot of festive offerings!
