Having a good clearout in time for Christmas is something we’ve all done, but do you spend 4 and a half hours cleaning your home before Christmas? a new survey by AO reveals that we, on average, spend just that amount of time sprucing the house up before Santa makes an appearance.
The research, based on a survey of 2,000 people, conducted by online electricals retailer, AO.com, found that a staggering 89% of Brits said they clean their home more around the Christmas period. More specifically, the study revealed that Men spend an average of 5 hours cleaning, whilst Women spend 4 hours in the run up to Christmas making sure the house is spotless.
When quizzed on the reasons for this, more than half of Brits (56%) said the top reason was so they can relax once the home is fully cleaned for Christmas.
Just under half (47%) said it was both because guests will be staying over and also because lots of people will be coming in and out of the house at Christmas.
This was closely followed by 44% who want to make space for decorations and 43% who clean the home to make space to put out presents.
Whatever our reasons, it seems that Christmas is not only the most wonderful time of year, it’s also the cleanest!
