The new ‘Alan Carr’s Happy Hour’ previously provisionally titled ‘Alan Carr‘s Social Club’ is to be set in a traditional British social club. It will be aired pre-watershed (so no swearing or drinking alcohol) and will run for four episodes in the build up to Christmas. Sounding a little like (actually quite a lot like) the Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club of the 70’s which was compered by Bernard Manning and set in a working men’s club, happy hour will see Alan giving his celebrity guests the third degree.
Will the arrival of his new show see the end of 7 years of Chatty Man? According to Channel 4, ‘ Chatty Man’ is not to be axed and it is rumoured to be returning at Christmas but no commitment has been made for any further episodes.
