The updated guide is written specifically for those who are passionate for travelling and love to explore. John from our team who loves to “get lost” when touring (or so he says anyways) took the book to review, he said: “OK this is not just your typical back pocket book as it’s crammed full of information with 25 chapters ranging from Devon to Orkney. The introduction itself was like a mini book as it covered everything from temperatures in the big cities to author picks – they’ve even flagged their favourite places.

Starting with London, ‘The Rough Guide’ book shows you a detailed map of landmarks you should visit including orange circles highlighted for more important places such as Westminster Cathedral and London Bridge – handy if you’ve got a limited amount of time on your travels.  Also included are the opening times of each place.

Throughout the guide you can expect the same in-depth information for the four nations, as I’m based in Scotland it gave me a far more deeper insight as to all the monuments and landmarks I had missed straight on my doorstep.

One of the handiest pieces of information was the very last page, as it includes a breakdown of symbols used on the maps and throughout the book.  For example, a green circle for eating and some grapes for Vineyards/Winery’s. Overall I loved the Rough Guide to Great Britain and no matter where I go in Britain I’ll always throw this into my backpack as it contains such priceless information.”

Whether you’re hot on the road in a motorhome or travelling by yourself, this nifty book should be your new best friend. This is the ultimate Christmas gift or stocking stuffer to put a huge smile on the face of the travel enthusiast in your life.

‘The Rough Guide To Great Britain’ is available for £19.99 from Amazon.co.uk.
